💡✍️ADN #144: No Means Nothing
Aug 17, 2025Wait… someone told you “no” and you gave up?
That’s not the end of the story.
It’s the beginning.
“No” isn’t rejection.
Its direction.
- Sometimes it means you asked at the wrong time.
- Sometimes it means you didn’t explain yourself well enough.
- Sometimes it’s just a test to see how much you care.
The Path to “Yes” goes like this
- I have an idea.
- I chase it and hit a wall.
- I look for a way around the wall. (Remember, tall doesn’t always mean wide.)
- I try again. And again.
- I find an opening.
- I get the outcome — money, fans, team, tour, whatever.
- I move on to the next idea.
And if the wall is too hard to climb and too wide to go around?
Fine.
Find another wall.
Another door.
Another way.
A “yes.”
Every “no” is just a detour on the way to yes.
The Truth about “No”
- Money is all around you — you might just be looking in the wrong pocket.
- 8 billion people exist. You don’t even need a million to build a career.
- Sell a few more tickets, and suddenly you’ll get a better gig.
- Write one great song, and the co-writer who passed yesterday will want in tomorrow.
- You only need one tour at a time (the 100 others that passed don’t matter).
Remember, “no” means nothing unless you let it.
Your artist development will thank you every time you keep going when someone tells you not to.
See you next Sunday,
Neil
