Hey Friends -

Welcome to the Artist Development Newsletter.

Every Sunday, I send an email providing actionable tips for artists and industry on one area of the music business.

Last week we looked at how to stay organized while making your album with the Digital White Board template.

You can re-read last week’s newsletter here if you want to refresh.

Today I will show you how to track your touring with the Artist Development Tour Template.

Let’s jump in.

Touring as an artist is exhilarating and exhausting.

Cities and shows bleed together like sunset and sunrise.

Before you know it, you’ve played 10 cities in 11 days.

It can be challenging when you’re on the road to stay organized.

Keeping track of your hard work is arguably as important as doing it.

Your tour history proves what you are worth in a market and will guide you toward the right play the next time you book a show or tour.

It helps you build a story in each city and is an asset when negotiating your next deal.

Like social media tracks a post’s performance, you want to track how your shows and tours perform.

That’s where the Artist Development Tour Template comes in.

This template lets you track every show you’ve played in detail.

  • Date
  • City
  • State
  • Venue
  • Guarantee
  • Ticket Price
  • Tickets Sold
  • Capacity
  • Gross
  • Overage
  • Total $ Paid

There are two tabs for tracking your market history.

1. Alphabetical

2. By Date

Use the “alphabetical” tab when you want to search your history in a city.

Use the “by date” tab to look historically at your growth over any given year or years.

Then, there are two more tabs for keeping track of your ideas and planning your future goals and targets.

3. Market Goals

4. Tour Package Ideas

The “Market Goals” tab gives you the ability to organize by:

  • Market
  • Time Of Year
  • Latest Venue
  • Venue Goal
  • Current Tickets On-Sale
  • Ticket History
  • Ticket Goal
  • Festival Targets

The “Tour Package” tab is a place to organize your ideas about artists and bands that would be great to tour with.

The “Tour Package” tab includes the following:

  • Artist
  • Market(s)
  • Tour Type
  • Management
  • Booking
  • PR

Click here to check it out.

Go to the “file” tab and select “make a copy,” and the template is yours!

Ok, that’s it for today.

See you next Sunday!
