💡✍️ADN #143: Stubborn Determination
Aug 10, 2025I was listening to a podcast recently about Enzo Ferrari.
A quote from Enzo jumped out at me that applies perfectly to team buy-in and audience building.
The quote -
“I had the stubborn determination to capture the trust of those who work with me.”
This sounds so simple.
But the application can be so tough.
To have stubborn determination, you must have consistent focus.
To have a consistent focus, you must be a disciplined, passionate self-starter.
Here’s what the quote reminded me:
1. No one will work harder than you will for your dream.
Meaning: To capture the trust of your team, you must be willing to show up with a level of consistency that raises the bar for everyone around you.
Example:
If you aren’t prompt, don’t care about the details, and are okay with the bare minimum to get by, then everyone around you will assume that is the standard.
Hell, to even get a team, you need to show an extraordinary level of give a shit.
Talent?
Great!
Effort?
An absolute necessity.
2. If you have an image in your head of what your audience looks like headlining Red Rocks or Royal Albert Hall, then your job is to gain the trust of the audience you envision and work with tenacity to sell the hell out of them on the story you are writing.
Once you capture the trust of your audience, you can go anywhere and do anything.
It reminds me of a quote from a great baseball movie.
“If you build it, he will come.” (Flip “he” to “they” and that’s your audience.)
As an artist, develop the stubborn determination to capture trust.
One day, you’ll look around and have the team around you that you need and the audience you want.
See you next Sunday -
